Pain serves a purpose – it warns us that something is causing us harm – disease, bodily injury, or inflammation. It also, quite powerfully, forces us to limit the activities that may delay recovery. Over-the-counter painkillers have their place in the treatment of mild to moderate acute pain that has an obvious cause, but only in the short term. There is also the risk that used unwisely, they might mask warning pain that needs to be investigated further.
Unlike painkillers, TFT will have little, if any, effect on appropriate pain – we cannot affect the body’s all important warning signal! However, pain that is inappropriate can be reduced in severity.
What is meant by inappropriate pain?
